Route 1: Valid Standard Certificate Issued by a State Other than Florida The certificate shall be the valid standard educator's certificate issued by that state which is comparable to a Florida Professional Certificate, and Be issued in a subject comparable to a Florida certification subject, and Require the same or higher level of training required for certification in that subject in Florida, and The certificate must be currently valid (not expired or revoked). Route 2: Certificate Issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) The NBPTS certificate must be currently valid. The Florida certificate will reflect the Florida subject considered comparable to the NBPTS subject. Alabama https://www.alabamaachieves.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/TEA_202413_Out-of-State-Certificate-General-Information_v1.0.pdf Alabama professional educator certification is offered on the basis of valid professional educator certificates issued by other states, and only if the professional educator certificate issued by another state is in an area, at a grade level, and at a degree level in which Alabama offers comparable professional certification. Alabama certification is not offered on the basis of educator preparation programs completed, online or in-residence, at non-Alabama institutions. No exceptions will be made to allow the recognition of programs completed at non-Alabama institutions. South Carolina https://ed.sc.gov/educators/teaching-in-south-carolina/reciprocity/checklist/ A certificate or license presented must be a standard educator credential documenting that the individual has completed all requirements of an approved educator preparation program recognized by the issuing state and that certification examination requirements have been met. The out-of-state credential must be current and valid, allowing the educator to serve in a public school setting located in the issuing jurisdiction. The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) will not accept an expired credential for reciprocity purposes. The credential must be in good standing without current or pending disciplinary action. An out-of-state credential that has been subject to prior disciplinary action will require additional review to determine if the applicant is eligible for issuance of a South Carolina certificate. Note: State laws, regulations, and policies may change at any time. Changes in requirements can impact the program's ability to meet educational requirements for licensure. The responsibility resides with the individual completing the licensure or certification program to check with the professional board(s) for the state in which they intend to obtain a license for the most recent information and requirements.
